8 Facts That Should Be Common Knowledge, But Aren’t!

There are facts that shock us and then there are facts that should be common knowledge but somehow don’t get their due. Check out these 8 common facts that could save you from awkward situations.

#1. WATER TOWERS ARE FOR WATER PRESSURE, NOT JUST TO STORE WATER IN FOR AN EMERGENCY.

Water towers rely on the hydrostatic pressure that occurs because of their height from the ground. In these towers, gravity provides the force necessary to provide water for domestic and industrial water distribution systems. Water towers usually operate in conjunction with underground or surface service reservoirs which store fully treated, potable water close to the area of distribution.

#2. IF THE SUN OR SOMEBODY’S HIGH BEAMS ARE BLINDING YOU FROM BEHIND THEN YOU CAN SWITCH YOUR REAR VIEW MIRROR TO “NIGHT MODE”.

Sometimes, while driving at night, we find our vision compromised by crude high beams from someone driving behind us. It can also happen during the daytime due to sun’s glare. To avoid getting blinded in such situations, we can switch our rear view mirror in night mode. In your car, you will find a little tab under the rear view mirror. Flick it and a ghost image will appear which will reduce the glare.

#3. WOMEN DON’T PEE FROM THEIR VAGINA. THEY PEE THROUGH THEIR URETHRA, AND BOTH URETHRA AND VAGINA ARE COMPLETELY SEPARATE HOLES.

In our anatomy class, we are all taught that both male and female pee through the urethra. While growing up, we usually consider vagina and urethra to be same, which leads us to believe that women pee through their vagina.
But women’s anatomy is a bit complex than male. Men have a single opening at the tip of their penis from where they pee and ejaculate. But for women both these actions are performed through two different orifices. Hence, they have three holes down there instead of the usually believed two. These three orifices are urethra, vagina, and anus. The urethra is located between the clitoris and the vaginal opening

These bowls do not provide necessary filtration and adequate oxygen. As the fish grows, it would just be harder to keep it in that bowl.

We didn’t think you would actually believe that the colour of blood inside your blood vessels is blue. But just to be on the safer side, it appears blue on the outside because that’s how light interacts with your skin and makes the red blood appear blue. Physics people!

#8. HUMAN RESOURCES ARE THERE TO PROTECT THE COMPANY, NOT THE EMPLOYEE. HR WILL NOT PROTECT AN EMPLOYEE IF HE/SHE IS IN CONFLICT WITH SOMEONE ELSE WHO IS NOT FROM THE COMPANY.

Human resources actually work in the best interest of the company which may not always be the same as what is best for you. In some cases, HR advocates employees against bad managers. This is because it is in the best interest of the employers to retain great employees, identify and address bad management, and stop legal problems before they explode.
