Maintain Your Facial Hair

Whether you’re male or female, you can easily make yourself more appealing by taking care of your facial hair.
For the guys:
  • Shave your face.
  • If you absolutely must have facial hair, keep it neatly trimmed and sculpted.
  • While you’re at it, get rid of your nose and ear hair, too.
For the ladies:
  • Shape your eyebrows. You’ll be amazed by how much this helps your overall look!
  • If you’ve got an unfortunate pre-mustache or beard coming in, get rid of it right away.

Keep Your Hair in Tip-Top Shape

Your hair is your crowning glory. It’s often the thing people notice first when they meet you. That’s why it’s important to make a stellar first impression with a great hairdo!
  1. No matter your gender or the length of your hair, it’s important to get regular haircuts. This cuts down on split ends and keeps your hair looking and feeling healthy.
  2. Keep it clean. Greasy hair isn’t attractive, so wash it as often as needed to keep it looking fresh and clean.
  3. Keep it tidy. We all have different textures of hair, but do whatever you can to give yours a neat and well-kept appearance.

Wear Clothes That Fit

A big mistake that a lot of people make is wearing clothes that don’t fit and aren’t flattering. Insecurity can be behind this, or simple lack of knowledge on the subject. Luckily for you, I’m here to help!
Only wear clothes that fit. Avoid oversized, baggy clothing, and also steer clear of items that are too tight. If the issue is your weight, you can instantly look 10+ pounds lighter just by choosing clothes that really fit your body.
Unsure if something fits? Bring an honest friend along to help, or ask a nearby salesperson for their opinion.

Eye Contact

Another action that can be a big help in upping your attractive factor is eye contact. Just like smiling, this opens your face up to the people around you and makes you seem more friendly. Plus, the person you’re talking to will feel important, like they’re the center of your attention. As a result, their opinion of you will increase.
For people on the shy side, this can be extremely difficult, but it’s not impossible. Slow down and take it one step at a time. Start out by making short bursts of eye contact with someone you already know, and then build up to eye contact with strangers. After a while, looking people in the eye will feel like second nature!

Walk with Confidence

While in the public eye, avoid slumping along like you’re hiding from the world. Instead, hold your eyes and head up, keep your shoulders back, and relax. Doing so will instantly make you appear more confident to those around you, which is a huge part of being viewed as attractive.
This doesn’t mean that you should strut around like you’re the most important person in the room and everyone else is beneath you. Confidence is different from conceit. Take care to not cross that line!

Make Yourself Smell Good

Aside from your physical looks and behavior, one other thing can have a major impact on whether people find you attractive: your scent. No one likes to be around someone with a nasty body odor, but everyone is attracted to people who smell good!
Giving off a pleasant scent is pretty simple to do:
  • Shower or bathe every day.
  • Use deodorant, and reapply throughout the day if necessary.
  • Wear perfume or cologne, in moderation.
  • Brush your teeth at least twice a day.
  • Carry breath mints or gum to fight bad breath.
  • See a doctor if you have issues with gas.

Relax

Are you generally a nervous person? Do you worry about what other people think? Are you painfully shy? These things don’t necessarily make a person unattractive, but battling them can only be good for you.
Relax. Take a deep breath. In the words of recording artist Regina Spektor, “People are just people. They shouldn’t make you nervous.” The more you are able to relax and open up to people, the more attractive you’ll become. It can take time, but it’s worth it!

Laugh

Don’t be afraid to laugh! When you allow yourself to cut loose and have a good chuckle, the folks around you will be more attracted to you than ever. Laughter works wonders for many of the same reasons smiling and relaxing are so effective: you’ll appear more approachable and pleasant to be around.
Laughing additionally helps build up the ego of the person who made you laugh, which is even more likely to leave a lasting positive impression. You can’t go wrong with that!

Body Language

Sometimes, what it comes down to is body language. If you have your arms crossed, are busy looking at your phone, or you’re facing away from people, they won’t take the time to approach you. They most likely will assume that you don’t want to be bothered.
Instead, uncross those arms and legs and turn to face other people in the room. Then, everyone will know that you’re interested in being social, and someone will eventually make a move.
